Tonći Tkalec has owned this bar for almost 25 years and often calls it his “child”. His inspiration for opening such a bar in Dubrovnik was the Maltese Cafe del Mar, glamorous club on the beach with a bar and a restaurant, offering an amazing view of the sea. Tonći, who was born 30 meters away from the bar, on the Jesuits, is now living the Croatian dream even though he started from scratch – he didn't have any investments back in 1999, when he first opened this bar – he found two planks in the waste behind the Cathedral and convinced his mother that she didn't need a refrigerator at home in the summer. And that was only the beginning of this story that is to be continued.
